Welcome to another blog post from the MySQL for Excel Team. Today we're going to talk about a new feature included since MySQL for Excel1.3.0, remember you can always install the latest GA or maintenance version using theMySQL Installer also you can download directly any GA or non-GA version from theMySQL Developer Zone.
We are going to show you where these dialogs are located and how you can take advantage of this new option in each of them. We will start by enumerating them, we got a total of four: Global, Import, Export and Append.
To open the first dialog (Global), you could do it from 2 places. The first one requires to open the connection of your preference by double clicking it like it says on the panel and click the <Options> button from the schema selection panel:
And you will see the Global Options dialog appear, which now has a button called Reset to Defaults:
The <Refresh to Defaults> button works in the same way in all dialogs it appears in.
If you have changed any of the settings on the current window, you can click this button to reset ALL of them to their original value.
Please note that changes made are not saved until you click the <Accept> button. If you wish to left all options as they were when the dialog opened, click the <Cancel> button.
For the second way of opening this dialog and to open the other 3 we mentioned before, you need to navigate further in the schema selection panel to the Database Objects selection panel. Proceed by just double-clicking any schema like the panel label says:
The button circled in red will open the Global Options dialog once more.
To open the Import's Advanced Options Dialog, we first need to select any object from the panel and click on Import MySQL Data this will open the Import dialog:
And the Import dialog will appear. The Advanced Options... button will be located at the lower left of the dialog:
You can see the button is called the same as in the Global Options dialog and it works in the same fashion too:
For the rest of the dialogs we need to have some data into the worksheet and select it to enable the corresponding buttons to Export Data and Append Data action labels. For more detail on how to do that check this article.
