According to Forrester, U.S. mobile phone and tablet commerce is expected to reach $293 billion by 2018, up from $114 billion in 2014. No wonder, mobile enablement of ERP, CRM, SCM and multitude of enterprise apps is a high priority for every IT organization. Its imperative organizations don’t create a fragmentation of enterprise architecture (and underlying data& processes) while doing so.
To ensure a consistent architecture across multiple channels (mobile, tablet, desktop, smart sensors), Multi-Channel Service delivery could be a key strategy - a strategy that could eventually lead to better customer experience & reduced operational costs.
Oracle Application customers rely on Oracle Fusion Middleware platform for extending their applications. We are now starting to see Oracle Fusion Middleware being leveraged by e-Business Suite, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, Siebel, RightNow, SalesForce.com customers to realize the vision of multi-channel service delivery.
Figure 1: Fusion Middleware is the foundation for multi-channel service delivery
As customers embark on their respective mobile strategy, enterprise architecture should be able to address the following requirements
- How do you offer consistent customer self-service to customers/partners/employees across mobile, tablet, desktop?
- Can you enable unified architecture to ensure developers are not duplicating business logic for different channels?
- What is your strategy to ensure channel interactions are secured through a common identity management infrastructure?
- Do you have centralized set of APIs across different channels to integrate with backend applications and processes?
To learn answers to these questions, please check out OpenWorld session “Bridging Mobile and Desktop: Enabling Multichannel Access to Oracle Applications” on Tuesday Sept 30th 10:45AM. You will see live demonstration of multi-channel self-service scenario across two enterprise applications (JD Edwards Enterprise One and RightNow Service Cloud) and the underlying architecture supporting it. We are also planning to invite a customer to share their journey of multi-channel service delivery.
