One of the most visible (and colorful!) user interface enhancements for Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.4 is the new simplified home page:
In my previous posts, I discussed the new skin and enhancements to tables in Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.4. Now let's look at the new simplified home page.
Enabling the Simplified Home Page
When you first install or upgrade to Release 12.2.4, you will see the home page as it appeared in previous versions of Release 12.2 (configurable home page with tree-based navigator). The "Self Service Personal Home Page Mode" profile must be set to "Framework Simplified" so you can see the new simplified home page. The profile option can be set at multiple levels by the system administrator, including at the individual user level.

Adding Favorites
If a user already has favorites defined from a previous version of Oracle E-Business Suite, those favorites will appear automatically. If a particular function has a special icon already associated with it, that icon will appear. Otherwise, a default icon will appear.
Each user adds their own favorites, just as with previous versions of Oracle E-Business Suite. Adding favorites is easy: just click on the Add to Favorites icon, search for and select the function you want, click on Add to Favorites, and apply your changes.
You can change the text of your favorites to anything you want using the Favorite field in the bottom table on the Manage Favorites page. You can also rearrange your favorites here in the Manage Favorites page by moving them up and down relative to other favorites.
If you want to change existing favorites, select the Add to Favorites icon again.
Announcements Region
The Announcements region provides a space for site-level announcements. An administrator can modify the announcements using administrator personalization.
Using the Simplified Home Page
You can use the favorites icons to get to your favorite pages directly and easily. If you need to get to other pages or forms that you do not have as favorites, you can still get to those through your usual responsibilities by using the drop-down menu available from the Navigator (compass) link in the global header at the top of the home page. Likewise, you can also see your favorites in list form by clicking on the Favorites (star) icon at the top of the page.
The new simplified home page got a lot of favorable attention when we showed it at Oracle OpenWorld a few weeks ago. We hope you like it too!
