It's been a wild ride the last few weeks getting ready for Oracle Openworld, where we were part of a big UX Expo. We got to share a lot of cool stuff with customers, partners, analysts, and our peers from other teams within Oracle. One of the demos my team was showing, the Forecast Shaper, came out of one of the developer challenges we held last year. This year, Thomas Kurian even featured it in his keynote address. You can see a picture of that here if you weren't able to be there.
So now we're ready to roll into our next Design Jam event and this one is exciting. Oh, who am I kidding? They are all exciting! We're going to hold a Design Jam on Enterprise use cases for Augmented Reality.
So you might wonder what we think you can do in Augmented Reality. Well, that's part of what we're interested in but there are a lot of cool ideas out there about ways to use it outside of Enterprise applications. For example, Google just bought Word Lens, that uses AR for a translation app. Ikea lets you test drive furniture in your house with their new AR-integrated catalog. One of my favorites for just sheer silly fun is a L'Oreal app that uses AR to let you try on makeup. Our creative juices are starting to flow. We can't wait to see what comes out of this day event and maybe into an Oracle product near you in the future.
