I’ve lived and worked in the Colorado front range technology sector for over twenty years and I have always viewed StorageTek as an incubator of storage talent and the progenitor of much of the storage activity in the area. I had always hoped to work there and in 2005 I was granted that opportunity. I left in 2009, but now I am back! And here is why…
Over its’ nearly 40 year history, Oracle’s StorageTek brand has been representative of highly reliable, high performance, enterprise ready storage solutions. That is what end customers, channel partners, technology partners and the industry-at-large have come to expect from the StorageTek brand. And today, it remains the same! The industry continues to recognize and bestow awards on the StorageTek brand.
For example, in just the past couple of months, Oracle’s StorageTek brand has been recognized three times for excellence in the storage industry. In December, the StorageTek SL150 Modular Tape Library won Best Business Storage Product at the V3 Technology Awards, and in January was named a finalist in Storage Magazine/Search Storage’s 2012 Products of the Year Awards. In addition, Oracle’s StorageTek brand was recognized by Storage Visions as Visionary Media and Entertainment Storage Company for advances in storage for digital archiving and preservation.
And not only is the StorageTek brand winning industry recognition, but the brand continues to experience strong demand in the market. Here are few excerpts from a recent press release:
- Oracle has shipped over 3 exabytes1 of media for its StorageTek T10000C tape drives, tripling the capacity shipped that was announced a year ago.
- Oracle’s StorageTek T10000C tape drive, the world’s highest capacity tape drive, continues to show strong adoption with its best quarterly sales to-date and double-digit revenue growth in Oracle’s Q2FY13.
- Oracle’s StorageTek Tape Analytics and the Oracle StorageTek SL-series of tape libraries (SL8500, SL3000, and the new SL150) are also experiencing very strong demand, delivering double-digit revenue growth in Q2FY13.
And the product innovation for the StorageTek brand continues. Oracle introduced three new products to the award winning StorageTek tape storage portfolio in the last nine months: Oracle’s StorageTek SL150 Modular Tape Library, Oracle’s StorageTek Virtual Storage Manager 6 and Oracle’s StorageTek LTO 6 Tape Drives.
Representing significant intellectual property, the StorageTek brand is highly coveted within Oracle and I, for one, am glad to be working with the brand.
