Hi Potential Oracle Interns,
I am Linda Mathumba, an Oracle 2012 Intern from South Africa. Joining the big red team (Oracle) has been a phenomenal experience for me from day one!
As a graduate from the University of Johannesburg, I have an Honors degree in Taxation and Accounting. As an intern, I joined the Presales Application Team with a focus on Supply Chain Management (SCM), as a Presales SCM Consultant. Although throughout varsity my focus was Accounting and Taxation, Oracle afforded me the opportunity to explore the exciting field of SCM. With a substantial amount of training, Oracle has invested toward the development of my SCM capabilities. This has put me ahead of other interns on the market by now having two specialties- Accounting and SCM.
Some of the valuable lessons that I have learnt from the internship include; learning from different people from different backgrounds, sharing various individual experiences helped mework better in a team and do certain tasks better. Oracle is a busy organization, so at times Mentors would be focused on their given accounts, as an intern, I would have to take the initiative to get involved on a mentor’s account or be aware of what initiatives I can be involved in within the team. I ensured that I worked hard on any task given and asked for feedback in order to improve my skills.
My advice to all you future interns is to first enjoy your internship at Oracle, learn as much as you can about your line of business, learn from your mentors and your team, take initiative, work hard and lastly enjoy every minute of it. Wishing you all the best in your careers!
