Over 2,000 attending developers at JavaOne Russia crowded the sessions and demo grounds. In particular, the smart home demo and crane demo attracted a lot of attention.

Heather VanCura, Program Manager gave a talk about the JCP and how to contribute to JSRs. Attendees learned about how they can contribute to JSRs via their local Java User Group (JUGs). She also discussed the Adopt-a-JSR program, initiated by the London Java User Group to help user groups start contributing on JSRs. Many JUGs around the world have organized hack days as part of the program. "Anyone can participate and contribute to JSRs whether they are a JCP member or not" she added.
Andrey Kogun, leader of Moscow JUG was a guest at the OTN lounge where he invited attendees to join its monthly meetings to learn about Java between JavaOne conferences.
The JavaFX sessions were packed. Especially of interest were JavaFX 3D for advanced user interface, the JavaFX using the Netbeans RCP and Raspberry PI lab where participants built an Java SE Embedded and JavaFX Embedded. "It was evident by the audience reaction and participation at JavaOne Russia that the excitement about JavaFX is continuing to increase rapidly" explained Java Evangelist Jim Weaver.
There were a number of Java EE sessions targeted at the new features in Java EE 7. Arun Gupta run the Java EE 7 hands-on-Lab and has it available online. He also talked about websocket and you can find the samples online on his blog. Paul Bakker presented a Java EE 7 session about modularity. "One of the most interesting things in Java EE is the websocket API" explained Paul Bakker in this video.
ADF Mobile had a full house too. "It is a unique solution, you use your existing Java skills to build mobile applications that will run on both iOS and Android" said Frederic Desbiens, ADF Product Manager.
David Peake, Product Manager for Application Express, talked about Oracle database cloud, mobile development, analytic functions like geo-location, the SQL query cache, the in-memory database cache Times 10 and more. He noted that "more companies are mandating that their developers to build mobile applications"
