1.1. Please
introduce yourself and your current role at Oracle.
My name is Bassey and I hold a Bachelor’s Degree Computer Science from Covenant University, Ogun State, Nigeria.
I work with the Technology Pre-sales team here at Oracle Nigeria and I’m currently enjoying the challenges it provides. I get the opportunity to learn, and keep myself updated, with new technologies and discuss them with team members and my manager which provides me the unique opportunity of sharing and refining ideas.
I also get to liaise with the Technology Sales team which gives me a broader understanding of customer needs and how our solutions can address those needs in diverse industries.
2. How were the first weeks @Oracle?
Coming into an environment where you don’t know anybody, or what to expect, really can be tough, but that was not the case for me when I joined. From day one, we were welcomed with open arms and smiling faces. Because of the friendly atmosphere and work environment I found myself getting to know everyone better and even getting a better insight on the job.
3. Is anything different from what you expected to find at Oracle
Yes.What I expected to find at Oracle was a cut-throat environment where due to the pressure and enormity of work, nobody would really have time to answer a question or two. But I find that, even with the amount of work that gets done daily, everyone still has time to chip in suggestions and ideas that go a long way in helping with the task at hand. In the end this leaves everyone better informed and geared up.
4. How can students maximize their chances for getting an Internship @Oracle?
One thing I’ve noticed that Oracle does not compromise on ispassion. Across the different LOBs, you see people with passion for the job, passion for technology, and passion for results.
My advice is simple. Have a passion for technology and be prepared to show it.
