Nigeria is one of the many countries where #Oraclevolunteersare agents of change in their community. This new article by Robert Harris
shows the contribution they have made to the society in 2013: GVD Nigeria –
Gift of life.
Oracle Nigeria’s first Global Volunteer Days activity involved a blood drive in favor of the Lagos State Government Blood Transfusion Committee.
“It was fantastic initiative,” said Ihuoma Okoroafor, CSR Coordinator Nigeria.“At first people were a bit uncertain about donating but after the health talk that the Lagos state officials gave prior to the commencement of the donation, all doubts were cleared.”
The volunteers got to see the bigger picture and embraced
the joy of knowing that this was not just about giving blood, but in fact it
was giving to someone. In fact, many now look forward to another opportunity to
donate blood.
Oracle Nigeria volunteers also got to know some vital information about health, such as like blood count, blood pressure, weight, blood group and so on (as participants were tested before donation).
It was a great experience and achieved more than was thought
possible. Even people who didn’t register as participants decided on that day
to give the Gift of Life. It was indeed fun and refreshing to give as one!
