Author: Rimi Bewtra, Senior Director, Product Marketing, Oracle Fusion Middleware

In a recent interview I was recently asked what excites me about my job.  In my 14 years at Oracle, I have always worked in product marketing but across many different technology areas. In many ways, I have grown up at Oracle having had the privilege of working with and learning from the leading minds in the IT industry. I have gained a deep understanding some of Oracle’s key technologies, the value it can deliver in powering innovation and reducing complexity.

So when I think about how I would answer “what excites me about my job?”— a lot of ideas come to mind.  The two ideas that remain at the top are: Oracle’s breadth and depth of technology and how we continue to innovate across so many areas—Listen to my recent conversation with Vice President, Amit Zavery, as he discusses the top 10 Fusion Middleware milestones from 2012 as well as the many other FMW podcasts.

However the most important reason that gets me excited about my role is when I hear about the successes and innovations our customers are achieving. Customers across all industries and all sizes, are doing some amazing things and transforming their industries leveraging Oracle’s technology. Innovation truly happens everywhere! To quote one of the greatest IT leaders of our time, Steve Jobs  once said, "Technology is nothing. What's important is that you have faith in people, that they're basically good and smart, and if you give them tools, they'll do wonderful things with them."

Keep innovating … Happy New Year!
